FOUNDER/CEO- Lee Ann Butler-Owens
Butler-Owens is an author, classical composer, an inspirational speaker, and voice over artist. Butler-Owens has been positioned in numerous leadership positions for a major airline 25 years; is a member of the following prestigious organizations: Cambridge Who’s Who, Phi Theta Kappa, The International Dean’s List, SCBWI, ASCAP and is the recipient of several scholarships as she continues to complete her educational degree(s) at Mills College in Oakland.
SPOKESPERSON-Reena Evers Evers is the Daughter of Slain Civil Rights Leader-Medgar Evers and Mrylie Evers- Williams Civil Rights Activist. (Evers-Williams, Chairman of the NAACP- 1996-1999) Evers continues the legacy of her parents though speaking engagements and appearances. Evers sits on the board of several institutions and foundations that assist the needs of underprivileged communities.
SPECIAL EVENTS MANAGER- Nikolis Smith Smith is a Graduate of the University of Hawaii, where he received his B.A. He would obtain his M.A. in Global Studies from Sophia University in Tokyo Japan. Before joining LPS, Smith was the Special Liaison to former Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Government of Japan. During his tenure of discipline while residing in Honolulu, he played an instrumental role as Atherton YMCA's Assistant Program Manager. He has studied abroad in Austria, Switzerland, China and Japan. He is fluent in Mandarin and proficient in Japanese. Smith is committed to the education and development of children and young adults worldwide.
Board Member- Bobby Ann Howe Howe Howe is Director of Public Affairs for KTYM Radio in Inglewood California. CEO of K-MOMS (a collaborating entity with LPS), Howe dedicates her life to community service for underprivileged individuals in the greater Los Angeles area and has received numerous awards including "Honorary Good Will Ambassador to Japan".
CURRICULUM SPECIALIST- Brent Albert Albert is an award winning special education teacher with 25 years of experience in the Sarasota Florida School System. He was the Director of "Special Olympics" in Sarasota County for several years. Albert's current position is a special education teacher at June Jordan High School in the Mission District of San Francisco. Albert reviews all LPS content to ensure the curricula we offer is sensitive to children with challenges, multi-cultural and age appropriate.
SPECIAL EVENTS COORDINATOR/ INTERNATIONAL CORRESPONDANT- Kun Dong Dong is a Graduate of Liaoning Normal University, MA in Global Studies from Sophia University in Tokyo Japan. She is a native Chinese speaker and is fluent in Japanese and English. Dong served as journalist and Television anchor in Lianoning Province China, and she is a strong advocate for social equality and specializes in global communications .
BOARD MEMBER -Paul Cody Cody is the founder of Sick Parties for Kids and Parties for Literacy. Cody's company supports causes that serve low-income kids that suffer from life threatening illnesses.
BOARD MEMBER- Sandra Mcleod Humphrey
Sandra McLeod Humphrey is a retired clinical psychologist with over 35 years experience working with young people. She is a writer and consultant for the Heroes & Dreams Foundation which provides character education materials to schools K-8 throughout the United States and Canada and the recipient of the National Character Education Center's Award for "Exemplary Leadership in Ethics Education" (2000). She was also "Author of the Month" for MyShelf.com 12/03 and the recipient of the Helen Keating Ott Award for Outstanding Contribution to Children's Literature (7/05).
TECHNOLOGY DIRECTOR- Merlin K.Owens
Merlin K. Owens-Owens is Entrepreneur and CEO of East West Tele Media International, a web casting and technology-based business. Owens’ focal point is on programs that educated and assist disadvantaged children of Africa and has spent 30 years in the music industry- composing, producing and performing.
